Springside is finally starting to see fish caught to a variety of baits as the weather warms up.  Carp to 12lb Bream to 8 lb and even a Tench 3lbs are being caught, with the Roach and Rudd readily taking maggot fished on small hooks.  Small inline  method feeders are accounting for the Carp with corn and pellet hairigs seeing the bigger catches.   The Bream are yet to show in any numbers but as the weather warms up , big catches to 100lbs can be expected.

This years Season Tickets are now on sale at £60.00 per season , with the season now from the 1st January to the 31st December.  There are no concessions for Season tickets all one price.  Day Tickets are £6.00 Adult £4.00 Junior or Concession (proof of concession is required).  Extra Rods are charged at £3.00 with a maximum of two rods only.  This year we will be doing a Evening Ticket after 5pm for £3.00, there will be no concessions on this price.   This is a trial for the Summer , and if it is succesful will be retained for next year to.  You can not go to or start to set up in a swim before 5pm if you want to pay for a evening ticket, if you do full price will be payable.

Over the Winter we have been busy cutting back the trees and removing the rubbish, which cost the fishery £1700 in removal of rubbish alone.   The bins have now been removed and all anglers are asked to take there rubbish home.

The Evening Matches will start as soon as we have enough light on Tuesday evenings.   These will be £10.00 Pools of which only £3.00 will be peg fee.   The optional golden peg will also be run the same as last year at £1.00 per match.  All matchmen should make themselves fully aware of the match rules on the notice boards, no excuses will be excepted.  No Artificial Baits (plastic corn etc.) will be allowed in matches this year and 1kg of groundbait maximum.  Notice of dates will be posted on here and notice boards as soon as we now ourselves.

Our restocking policy continues to progress after some major setbacks last Summer with amonia problems , which have been now fully resolved.   We know to some anglers frustration we had to ban meat last year, this was done on advice from the enviroment agency who have monitored and help resolve the amonia problem.  This year from 1st April to the 30th September, Luncheon meat will be  allowed as hook bait only , with a maximum cube size of 10mm.  Abuse this rule and we will put the total meat ban back on.  No cat or dog meat is allowed.   On the fish side of things we have restocked in September 2009 with 250lb of Roach and 300lb of Carp between 1lb and 5lb, most being 2 to 3lb.  We have also added another Bream shoal of 2 to 4lb fish in total of 300lb, which will stir up the two excisting shoals of Bream and we should all be in for some bumper catches this Summer.

Watch this space for regular updates on Springside.   Tight lines Mick & Pep

Hunstanton Tackle fished there first round tie at Decoy Lakes Whittlesey on Six Island Lake.  They were up against experienced local rivals Dersingham Black A.C.   With half the lake covered in ice from the overnight frost,  the match had to be delayed for one hour before the match could start.  It was a very peggy but fair match with both sides scoring four section wins from there respective squads of eight.  With half of the Hunstanton squad  being junior anglers, who showed there true potential for the future, with Timmy Pepper and Toby Pepper  both winning there sections, and Darren Reed and Nick Wright winning there sections.   It all came down for the match to be decided on weight with Hunstanton Tackle weighing 127lbs 10oz to Dersingham Blacks 119lbs 3oz, just enough to scrape through to the next round.  Individual Winners ; 1st Nick Wright (Hunstanton) 46lbs 8oz  2nd Mark Henry (Dersingham) 40lbs 4oz  3rd Simon Smith (Dersingham) 32lbs 8oz .
